Bunbury Win Colts Qualifying Final

Bunbury have won an entertaining Colts Qualifying Final at PC Payne Park on Sunday morning, defeating Harvey Brunswick Leschenault by 14 points, in front of a big crowd.

The Lions dominated the first half, keeping Bunbury scoreless in the opening term.  Rohan Grout, the competitions leading goal kicker, kicked the Lions opening two goals of the match.

In the second quarter, Kaedyn Brady kicked Bunbury’s first goal, before Lucas Pedrochi kicked a handy goal to narrow the margin to two points.   Grout answered for the Lions close to half time with an excellent snap goal, giving the Lions a nine point lead at the main break.

The complexion of the match changed in the third quarter, with Ben Martinson owning the quarter kicking three of Bunbury’s four goals, as the Bulldogs hit the front, ultimately taking an eight point lead into the final break.

Zeke Walker made things even more difficult when he converted a set shot from deep in the pocket, giving Bunbury a 15 point lead.  Lattrell May gave the Lions hope with a miracle goal on the boundary line, but a late goal to Alex Brook snuffed out the resistance, with the Bulldogs home by 14 points.

Bunbury will now play Carey Park in a second semi final next weekend (Day and Venue TBA), while the Lions will face Busselton in a first semi final.
