The SWFL held a coaching workshop on Tuesday night at League Headquarters in preparation for the new season.
Coaches from League, Reserve, Colts and Womens’ teams were in attendance at the workshop, conducted by Darren Kenny (Vice President) and John Vidos (General Manager) from the SWFL. The meeting opened with a presentation and subsequent discussion of leadership of coaches on match day and what the SWFL expect.
Speakers included Jamie Doust from WAFC and Jason Crowe (SWFLUA President) and Adam Hauswirth (SWFLUA Field Umpires Coach).
Doust covered off the importance of registration of players and officials via Sports TG, along with coaching courses and accreditations.
The umpires discussed a range of topics, including how the new “third man up” rule will be adjudicated, law interpretations including deliberate out of bounds, “the protected area” and the control of match day officials.
All coaches actively participated in the session, and are looking forward to the season proper which commences at Easter.
