Dons To Host Tigers In Match Of The Round

Second placed Donnybrook will host third placed South Bunbury in the SWFL Match of the Round, this Saturday at VC Mitchell Park, in round nine of the Dale Alcock Homes Premiership Season.

Donnybrook are coming off a physical match against Bunbury last Sunday, where the Dons won by 38 points to take their home and away record to six wins and one loss (to Busselton).  South Bunbury had a 33 point victory over the Bulls last Saturday, and have five wins from seven matches, with both teams playing good football.

As the season nears the half way point, the match is crucial for both teams, with a win to the Dons getting them within one game of Busselton at the top of the ladder, and putting a two game margin between themselves and South Bunbury.  A Dons loss will put them equal on points with South Bunbury and potentially Carey Park, in what will then become a congested table, and also leaving Busselton two games clear.  A South Bunbury win will keep them in third place but equal with Donnybrook, as the battle for spots in the five intensify.

Donnybrook’s Jeff Smith continued his great form last round against Bunbury kicking five goals, while Leigh Kohlmann from South Bunbury kicked six of his own, something that will be a feature of the match with how the two full forwards play in their teams quest for victory.

Getting the ball to the key forwards is where the battle will be potentially won, with both teams having excellent players in the centre of the ground.  Ben Howlett was outstanding against Bunbury, winning the Belt Up Ball for best on ground, and will need to be checked closely, while Shaun Crane and Kevin Chitty always get plenty of the ball and will be some of the key players for the Tigers.

With fine weather forecast, a big crowd should be in attendance to watch what promises to be a great game.
