Hawks Finish At Home On High Note

Augusta Margaret River have defeated Dunsborough at Gloucester Park on Sunday afternoon by 43 points in round twenty one of the SWFL Season.

In a dour affair, the match was nothing like the previous two home games of the Hawks which yielded 77 goals.  Sunday’s match saw just fifteen goals kicked, with the Hawks in control for most of the contest.

Leading by fifteen points at quarter time, the margin extended to 27 points at half time, and the Sharks were kept goal-less in the third term, effectively ending the contest.  To the Sharks credit they did fight out the match winning the last quarter, but accuracy also evaded the Dunsborough team, kicking 4.10 (34).

Seve Grantis and Finn MacShane along with the ever reliable Zac Dronow played well for the Hawks, while Corey Ballantyne, Chris White and Max Paterson were amongst the best for Dunsborough.

Both teams are out of finals contention, with the Hawks having an opportunity to finish the season well, when they travel to Donnybrook on Sunday.  The Dons struggled to beat Collie and they Hawks may well have a say on who plays who in the finals.  Meanwhile, Dunsborough will play Eaton on Sunday at Glen Huon Reserve, and will be looking to finish the season with a fourth win, which will ensure Eaton obtain the wooden spoon.
