Lions And Tigers Set To Clash At Brunswick

The Dale Alcock Homes South West, round twelve match between Harvey Brunswick Leschenault and South Bunbury will take place on Sunday at the Brunswick Showgrounds in what is shaping up as an intriguing contest.

The Lions have been playing some good football in recent weeks and took the big scalp of Augusta Margaret River a few weeks ago, and came within nine points of Busselton in terrible conditions last Sunday.  It is hard to imagine, but South Bunbury played in worse conditions in what akin to a night match in the second quarter, in a match that ultimately was called off due to persistent lightning.  Before that though, the Tigers were literally blown off Hands Oval by Bunbury, which saw the Tigers trail by 33 points at half time, with just the one goal.

The Tigers will surely not produce the same performance two weeks in a row, and the Lions will need to be ready for the likes of Crane, Cormack, Crichton and Chitty to put in big games, as the Tigers try to stay in touch with second placed Donnybrook.

The young Lions have been playing well and have won three of their last five games, with a two point loss to Eaton and nine point loss to Busselton and an earlier two point loss to Carey Park in round two, which indicates they are much better than their ladder position suggests, and the Tigers will not want to take the Lions lightly at home.

The match celebrates Jack Cormack’s 250th game.
