Lions Too Good For Collie Eagles

Harvey Brunswick Leschenault have had their second consecutive comprehensive victory to start the 2024, Dale Alcock Homes South West premiership season, when they accounted for the Collie Eagles by 74 points at the Brunswick Showgrounds on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions got off to a fast start, kicking five unanswered goals in the opening term, leading by 32 points at the first change.

Collie settled in the second and restricted the Lions ball movement, with Jayce Fontana kicking the Eagles first goal midway through the second term.

The homes side kicked five more in the third, with Jarrod Humphries and Blake Offer dominating the forward line, putting the Eagles

defenders under constant pressure.  Last week against the Bulls the duo kicked 14 goals, today against the Eagles the pair kicked ten, with Humphries kicking six.

Jayce Fontana who won the SWFL leading goal kicker award in 2016, kicked all three of Collie’s goals, but it would be another tough day for the Eagles.

The Lions now start the season with two victories, and will travel to Dunsborough next Sunday, while Collie will host Carey Park under lights next Saturday.

The Lions will finish round two on top of the ladder with a massive percentage (423.64%), and have conceded just 55 points in two games.
