Busselton have extended their winning streak to eleven games, after they defeated Augusta Margaret River on Sunday afternoon at Sir Stewart Bovell Park in round twelve of the SWFL.
The Magpies have played great football this season, and it continued against the Hawks who have been decimated by injury and unavailability in 2023.
Busselton got out of the blocks quickly and had a twenty point advantage over their Southern rivals at quarter time. The Hawks dug deep in
the second quarter and got within six points midway through the second quarter but Busselton kicked clear again to lead by 17 points at the main break. The final margin extended to 44 points, which didn’t reflect the dominance of Busselton who had 30 scoring shots to the Hawks eleven. Busselton’s inaccuracy in front of goals is what kept the margin closer than what it otherwise could have been.
The other thing that would please coach Daniel Delaney was the spread of goal kickers the Magpies had, with ten players kicking the fourteen goals, on a brisk afternoon in Busselton.
Austin Styles continued his excellent mid-season form, again amongst the best players on the ground, while Linc Adams was again one of the Hawks best, in a defensive line that saw plenty of the ball.
Busselton will play Eaton at Glen Huon Reserve on Sunday, while Augusta Margaret River will have to pull out all the stops on Saturday at Gloucester Park when they host South Bunbury.
