Carey Park are the first Reserves team through to the Solahart Reserves Grand Final, after they defeated Harvey Brunswick Leschenault at Brunswick Oval on Saturday afternoon in the second semi final.
The Lions led at quarter time by six points with Oliver Camm kicking a great goal late in the quarter to give the Lions the lead.
It would be the second quarter which turned the match with the Panthers kicking five goals in succession, after James Strano goaled giving the Lions a twelve point lead. Jordan Wallam kicked a good goal after receiving a high tackle and Brian Hughes put Carey Park in front, a
lead they never surrendered. Hughes would goal shortly after and when Wallam kicked his second the Panthers were well on top. When Jayson Altham snapped a great goal late in the term, the margin had blown out to 21 points.
The Lions needed to respond in the third and they did with Brendan Stemp converting after a relayed free kick. When Riley Coulson kicked a long range goal, the margin was reduced to nine points as the game went up a level. The Panthers responded though, with two late goals to lead by twenty points at the final change.
When the Panthers kicked the first goal of the last, the margin was the biggest of the match, and the Lions were not able to recover the margin. A brilliant goal by Jordan Wallam from basically the first row of seats put an exclamation mark on the victory.
With the Panthers through to the Grand Final, the Lions will play the winner of South Bunbury and Bunbury who play in Sunday’s First Semi Final, in next weeks Preliminary Final.
