Tigers Get The Job Done Against Rivals

South Bunbury got the four points at Kelly Park against their arch rivals Carey Park on Saturday afternoon, in round seven of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, South West Football League season.

On a perfect day for football and in front of a big crowd, the opening quarter would belong to Blaine Johnson, with the key forward kicking all three of the Tigers goals, as they led by eleven points at quarter time, in a tight and tough opening quarter.

The game was won in the second term, with South Bunbury kicking seven goals to three, with the precise ball movement at times exquisite with Tyson Lane on the end of some of the passes, kicking two goals for the term, with the margin extending to 38 points at half time.

Carey Park came out after half time with a new lease of energy, kicking three goals in the opening ten minutes to Brady Lenaghan, Taj Beauclarke and Harry Jones to narrow the margin to 20 points.  The Tigers rallied late in the term and arrested the ascendancy back off of the Panthers, leading by 25 points at three quarter time, after another goal from Lane.

The Panthers needed to kick the first goal of the final term to have any hope, and Jack DiLallo delivered but that was soon negated by Jarrad Fazioli and Blaine Johnson, as the Tigers ran out comfortable 46 point winners.

Ben McGuire played well in his first game for the Tigers, as did Kevin Chitty and Shaun Crane, while Reece Payne and Jaxon Bell were good players for Carey Park.

South Bunbury return to Hands Oval in round eight for their final home game prior to the AFL fixture, when they play Collie Eagles, while Carey Park will head to Glen Huon Reserve to take on Eaton.
