Dark Day As Dons Crush Boomers

Donnybrook have recorded the tenth biggest winning margin in South West Football League history, when they trounced Eaton by 210 points at VC Mitchell Park, in round seven of the Dale Alcock Homes South West Season.

The victory by the Dons eclipses the previous tenth highest winning margin, which was set on 21 May 1967 when Mines Rovers defeated Carey Park by 209 points at the Collie Recreation Ground.  The victory was also the biggest winning margin ever at VC Mitchell Park, when previously Donnybrook defeated Boyanup Capel Dardanup by 190 points in 1997.  In that match the Boomers recorded 2.2.14, so today’s lonely goal became the Boomers lowest ever score against Donnybrook and their equal second lowest score of all time.

The Dons kicked two goals in the opening three minutes of the match, before Kade O’Dine kicked the Boomers first and what turned out to be, only goal of the game, with the Dons kicking thirty two consecutive goals.   Compounding Eaton’s woes, the Dons were incredibly accurate, and were 23.2.134 during the third term.    Donnybrook would kick nine goals in the opening term, ten in the second, eight in the third and seven in the last, with the last quarter also producing the most scoring shots of any quarter – 14.

Kristian Cary kicked eight goals and Mitch Kings played well for the Dons, but the match was nothing but a percentage booster for the Dons going from 152.17% at the beginning of the match, ending with 225.53%, and increase of 73.36%.

Donnybrook will head to Busselton in round eight, while Eaton will be at home to Carey Park.
