The defending premier needs a minor miracle to play finals, and one part of many puzzles that need to go the Magpies way, is a big win over Augusta Margaret River at Sir Stewart Bovell Park on Sunday afternoon, in round nineteen of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL Premiership Season.
Busselton sit seventh on the ladder, two games behind fifth placed Donnybrook. To play finals, Busselton need to defeat Augusta Margaret River by a large margin to boost their percentage, which is the lowest of all teams fighting to play finals. They also need South Bunbury to thrash Carey Park to reduce the Panthers percentage which is seventeen percent better than the Magpies. Busselton would then need to beat Dunsborough in Dunsborough in the final home and away fixture, while hoping that Bunbury defeat Donnybrook by a big margin and Carey Park defeat the Dons in Boyanup in the final round. If all that happens, Donnybrook, Carey Park and Busselton would finish on 40 points, with percentage deciding the outcome. It is a long shot, but while there is a flicker of hope, the premiers are still alive. Should the Hawks win, Busselton’s season is over.
With fine weather expected and plenty to play for, with the Hawks also a chance of finishing third ahead of HBL, a big crowd should be on hand, as part of White Ribbon Round.
